About me
I’m Loraine Heckenberg, a licensed Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of federal civilian and military service, including more than a decade of experience providing rigorous financial analysis, policy evaluation, and strategic guidance at the highest levels of government.
I began my career serving as a nuclear engineer in the U.S. Navy. I became a budget and appropriations leader as a civilian, developing a deep understanding of financial operations, performance analysis, and the complexities of legal and regulatory compliance. I analyzed complex financial systems, advised senior leaders, and helped oversee multi-billion-dollar programs with precision and accountability. Throughout my work, I have been trusted to bring clarity to complexity—helping decision-makers understand not just the numbers, but the long-term consequences behind them. Following my career pivot to individual finance, I focused on educating and empowering military members and their families to lead healthier financial lives.
Now, as a solo practitioner, I apply the same disciplined, analytical approach to helping individuals and small businesses navigate their finances. I love being able to see and speak directly with my clients, to understand their issues and give them guidance that will make their lives better. My practice seeks to go beyond tax preparation to help clients understand how today’s financial decisions shape tomorrow’s opportunities. As a licensed CPA, I am committed to the highest ethical standards and a fiduciary mindset—providing objective, client-first advice designed to protect your interests and support lasting financial independence.
When I’m not optimizing my clients’ financial lives, I am probably on my bike cycling or taking care of my cats, bunnies, and chickens from my country home in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
